“Every Bangalore parent has a moment in February when they realise the house has gone quiet. That's not peace. That's board exam season.”
• Tariq Sallam, The City 24/7
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has released the final timetables for the 2026-27 SSLC (Class 10) and II PUC (Class 12) exams. II PUC Exam 1 starts on Saturday, 27 February 2027 and ends on 18 March. SSLC Exam 1 runs from Monday, 22 March to Monday, 5 April. The second attempts follow in May: II PUC Exam 2 from 3 to 15 May, and SSLC Exam 2 from 24 to 31 May.
I saw the full schedule in the newspaper this week and did what every adult who once sat these exams does: I felt a small chill, then remembered I'm not the one writing them. If you have a child in Class 10 or second PU, though, this is the page to bookmark. Every date, every subject, both exams, laid out cleanly so you can stick it on the fridge and stop asking your kid "when is your Physics again?"
Below you'll find the complete day-by-day timetables, the exam timings, what the two-exam system actually means for students, and a few honest tips from someone who has watched far too many Bangalore households go through this.
Quick Information
Everything that matters, in one table. Screenshot it, forward it to the family WhatsApp group, and become the most organised parent in the building.
When Do the 2027 Karnataka Board Exams Start?
The 2027 Karnataka board exams start with II PUC Exam 1 on Saturday, 27 February 2027, with Kannada and Arabic. SSLC students get a little more breathing room: their Exam 1 opens on Monday, 22 March with the First Language paper.
That gap matters in homes with two children in board years at once (I know at least three such households, and I salute them). The PU exams wrap up on 18 March, which leaves four days before the SSLC papers begin. So the kitchen-table study zone gets handed over from one child to the other with almost no break. Plan the snacks accordingly.
What Is the II PUC Exam 1 Timetable for 2027?
II PUC Exam 1 runs from 27 February to 18 March 2027, one main subject group per day, with most science and commerce papers spread across the first three weeks of March. Here's the full schedule.
II PUC Exam 1: Full Timetable
Date and day, then the subjects on that day.
Accountancy (5 March) and Business Studies with Mathematics (12 March) fall a week apart, and Physics (4 March) comes four days before Chemistry (8 March). Science students, the first fortnight of March is where your year gets decided. Start revision in January, not the week of.
What Is the II PUC Exam 2 Timetable for 2027?
II PUC Exam 2 runs from 3 May to 15 May 2027 and is the second attempt for students who want to improve their scores or clear a subject. Papers run from 10am to 1pm, except the vocational subjects and Hindustani Music on 15 May, which run from 2pm to 4.15pm.
II PUC Exam 2: Full Timetable
Same subjects, packed into under two weeks.
Notice how tight this one is. Twelve exam days in thirteen, with Sunday 9 May the only gap. Students who sit Exam 2 should treat April as their preparation month and not as a holiday.
What Is the SSLC Exam 1 Timetable for 2027?
SSLC Exam 1 runs from Monday, 22 March to Monday, 5 April 2027, starting with the First Language paper and ending with Social Science. There are just seven papers, with gaps of two to three days between most of them, which is generous by board exam standards.
SSLC Exam 1: Full Timetable
Seven papers, with breathing room in between. Use it.
SSLC papers for the first language, core subjects and the JTS subjects run from 10am to 1.15pm. The second and third language papers run from 10am to 1pm. Reach the centre at least 30 to 45 minutes early. Bangalore traffic on a weekday morning doesn't care about your hall ticket.
What Is the SSLC Exam 2 Timetable for 2027?
SSLC Exam 2 runs from Monday, 24 May to Monday, 31 May 2027, with the same papers as Exam 1 squeezed into eight days. The subject order is the same up to Social Science, but the JTS subjects and Economics move to the very end, on 31 May.
SSLC Exam 2: Full Timetable
Same seven papers, almost no gaps. This is the sprint version.
Why Are There Two Exams for SSLC and II PUC?
Karnataka now holds two board exams in the same academic year so students get a second chance to improve their marks or clear a subject without losing a year. Exam 1 is the main exam that most students take. Exam 2 gives a second attempt a few weeks later.
Speaking as someone who once had a very bad Maths morning in March, this is a genuinely humane change. One bad day, a fever or a family emergency no longer has to define a whole year. That said, Exam 2 is a safety net, not a strategy. Treating Exam 1 as a trial run is a bad idea when Exam 2 comes this fast.
- Who should plan for Exam 2. Students who miss a paper, fail a subject or want a better score in one or two subjects.
- Who should not count on it. Anyone planning to 'just see how Exam 1 goes'. The gap between the two is short, and the May heat is not kind to revision.
- What to check. The registration rules and fees for Exam 2 are notified by KSEAB separately. Your school or PU college will have the latest circular.
How Should Students in Bangalore Prepare for These Dates?
Work backwards from the first paper, not forwards from today. For II PUC students that means treating mid-February as the hard stop for finishing the syllabus. For SSLC students the target is mid-March. Here's what I've seen work in households across this city.
- Make a wall calendar today. Print the timetable above and mark each paper in a different colour. Visual panic is more useful than imaginary panic.
- Use the gaps intelligently. In SSLC Exam 1, the two-day gaps are for revising the next subject, not for catching up on a series. (Fine, one episode.)
- Do the past papers. KSEAB's model papers and earlier question papers are the single best predictor of what the exam will feel like.
- Protect sleep in exam week. A rested brain at 10am beats an exhausted one that studied till 3am. Every topper I have met says the same thing.
- Do a trial run to the centre. Once the hall ticket is out, drive or ride the route at the same time of day. Some exam centres are in parts of the city you have never been to.
Your child already knows the exam is important. They don't need daily reminders at dinner. Quiet support, good food and a calm house will do more for their marks than any lecture.
Where Can You Download the Official KSEAB Timetable?
You can download the official timetable PDFs from the KSEAB website, kseab.karnataka.gov.in. Schools and PU colleges also share the circular with students. Always check the official PDF before an exam, because the board can notify changes, and a newspaper clipping or a WhatsApp forward (including this page) is not the final word.
