The Chainsmokers play Bengaluru on Sunday, December 20, 2026, as a Sunburn Arena show, and tickets are already live on BookMyShow. If you were sixteen to twenty six anywhere between 2015 and 2019, this is the concert your entire hostel WhatsApp group will be arguing about for the next three months.

Here is what I like about the timing. December 20 is a Sunday, right in the middle of Bengaluru's best weather and the start of the holiday stretch, when half the city has already stopped pretending to work. Here is what I do not like. The venue had not been announced when I published this, which makes planning travel a guessing game until Sunburn confirms it.

So this guide does two jobs. It gives you every confirmed detail I can stand behind today, including the ticket tiers and the age rule that catches families out every single year. Then it gives you the plan I use for any big arena show in this city, so that the moment the venue drops, you already know what to do.

When and Where Are the Chainsmokers Playing in Bengaluru?

Sunday, December 20, 2026, as part of Sunburn Arena, with the venue still to be announced. The listing shows a 4:00 PM start, which for a Sunburn Arena event usually means gates and supporting sets in the late afternoon, building to the headline slot in the evening.

The venue gap is genuinely the only unknown that matters. Bengaluru's big show circuit runs through a handful of grounds, each of which changes your travel maths completely. NICE Grounds near BIEC on Tumkur Road puts you in the northwest with Madavara metro as the smart approach. Bhartiya Mall and the north Bengaluru venues put you up past Hebbal. Terraform and the Whitefield side pull you east. Until Sunburn confirms, do not book anything nonrefundable.

How Much Do Tickets Cost, and Which Tier Should I Pick?

Tickets are live on BookMyShow and sold in phases, so the number you see today is not the number your friend saw last month. Sunburn Arena shows typically run a general access tier, a VIP tier with a separate viewing zone and shorter bar queues, and a fanpit closest to the stage. Prices climb as each phase fills.

• General access. The big standing zone. Perfect if you are going for the atmosphere and do not mind being deep in the crowd. Arrive early if you want to be anywhere near the front of it.
• VIP. A separate zone with better sight lines and, more usefully, fewer people between you and a drink. The tier I would pick for a five figure crowd.
• Fanpit. Closest to the stage, smallest capacity, first to sell out. Only worth it if being at the barricade is the point of your evening.
• Phase pricing. Buying earlier is genuinely cheaper here. There is no late discount at a Sunburn show.

One warning that I will keep repeating until it stops being necessary. Buy on BookMyShow. Every big EDM show in this city attracts resellers on Instagram and WhatsApp who quote lovely prices, take UPI payments and send you a screenshot. A screenshot is not a ticket. The official BookMyShow event page is the only thing that gets you through a gate.

Is There an Age Limit for the Bengaluru Show?

Yes, and it is stricter than people expect. The event is for guests aged 15 and above, a valid government issued photo ID is required for entry, and guests under 15 will not be admitted. I am flagging this loudly because every year I hear from a parent who bought four tickets and discovered the rule at the gate with a thirteen year old in tow.

• Carry ID for every person. Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID. School ID cards are not government issued.
• Teenagers need their own ID. This trips up families more than anything else. A parent's ID does not cover the child at the gate.
• Alcohol is separate. Entry at 15 plus does not mean service at 15. Bar counters will check age independently.
• Check before you gift a ticket. If you are buying for a younger cousin as a birthday present, verify the birth date first. It is an awkward conversation at a barricade.

Which Songs Will the Chainsmokers Play?

Expect the songs that made them unavoidable, plus new material. Alex Pall and Drew Taggart have built a catalogue with well over a hundred million in streaming numbers, a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for Don't Let Me Down, and collaborations spanning Coldplay, Charli XCX, Halsey, ROZES and BTS. Their latest EP, Love Is Kind, features Oaks, and recent releases usually get a run in the live set.

In practice, an arena set from this duo is built for singalongs rather than obscure cuts. Sunburn's CEO Karan Singh described their appeal as instantly transporting people back to a specific phase of their lives, which is exactly right and also exactly why this show will be full of people in their late twenties pretending they are not emotional during Paris.

How Do I Plan Travel Before the Venue Is Announced?

Build a plan that works for any venue: metro where possible, a pickup point away from the gates, and a hard decision made before you enter. December 20 is a Sunday, which helps, but a 15,000 to 40,000 person crowd creates its own traffic regardless of the day of the week.

• If it is NICE Grounds. Green Line metro to Madavara and walk. The single best exit strategy available at any Bengaluru concert venue.
• If it is north Bengaluru. Thanisandra and Hebbal approaches. Leave two hours before you think you need to and eat near the venue.
• If it is the east or Whitefield side. Purple Line metro as far as it takes you, then a short cab. Do not attempt Outer Ring Road end to end.
• Whatever the venue. Agree one pickup point and one meeting landmark with your group before you go in. Phone networks struggle in dense crowds.
• The last leg. Walking ten to fifteen minutes away from the exit before booking a cab reliably beats standing in the surge zone refreshing the app.

What Should I Carry to a Sunburn Arena Show?

Your ID, a charged phone with the ticket loaded, a power bank and a light jacket. Nothing else earns its place. Sunburn arena events run the standard security setup, and the fewer things you hand over for inspection, the shorter your queue experience.

• Bring. Government photo ID, phone, power bank, small cash backup, jacket, closed shoes.
• Do not bring. Professional cameras, outside food and beverages, aerosols, umbrellas, laptops, anything sharp, and any bag larger than a small sling.
• Cashless reality. Most stalls run on UPI or cards. Keep a couple of hundred rupees in cash for the one counter whose machine has given up.
• Water discipline. Four hours on your feet in a crowd dehydrates you faster than you notice. Use the water points every time you pass one.

Is This the Right Concert to Take a First Timer To?

Yes, and it is one of the best in the city for that. This is a hits show with big visuals and choruses everyone knows, which is exactly what you want for somebody who has never stood in a crowd of thirty thousand people. Compare it to a four hour Afro house set, which is wonderful and also entirely the wrong place to start.

The two caveats are the age rule, which is firm at 15 plus with ID, and stamina. A first timer usually peaks around the two hour mark. Feed them properly beforehand, keep water in the plan, and pick a spot with room to move rather than pushing to the front. They will thank you at midnight.

What Else Is Happening in Bengaluru That Week?

Late December is the busiest cultural stretch of the Bengaluru calendar, so December 20 sits in good company. The Bangalore Literature Festival runs its fifteenth edition from December 11 to 13, the Christmas week fills up the churches, markets and restaurants across the city, and the New Year's Eve circuit starts announcing lineups around the same time.

If you are visiting Bengaluru for the concert, that is genuinely a good reason to make it a long weekend. December is when this city is at its most likeable: 15 to 25 degrees, clear evenings, everybody in a slightly better mood than usual.

December 20, somewhere in the VIP zone, one layer more than everyone else, singing along to songs I claim not to like. See you there. Same city, new stories, always.
